News from Lower Umpqua HospitalNews Release - National Hospital Week! May 6 through May 12, 2001 is National Hospital Week, and Lower Umpqua Hospital will be celebrating with some special events: The Books Are Fun Book Fair takes place Tuesday and Wednesday, May 8 and 9, in the hospital lobby. The entire community always looks forward to this twice a year event (the other fair is held right before Thanksgiving). As always, the Books Are Fun group will be bringing over 300 titles of top quality, current books, gifts, and educational toys and activity sets priced at discounts of up to 70%. This year 10% of the proceeds generated by the event will be donated to Lower Umpqua Senior and Disabled Transportation so not only do you go home with an armful of great books and gifts, you know your purchases will benefit a local organization. Kid's Care ID Day, sponsored in conjunction with the Reedsport
Police Department and Oregon Chiefs of Police Association, is Saturday May
12th. This will happen in the hospital's front lobby between noon and 3
p.m. Children of any age who live in the Lower Umpqua Hospital district
can be photographed and fingerprinted, with this important information assembled
into a pack for parents to keep. There is no charge, but an adult must accompany
each child. For more information about either of these activities, please contact
Delaine Humphreys at 271-9700.
